Shak-Shuka is a traditional Tunisian dish originating in our Berber culture. It means “mixture” or “shaken” in the Tunisian dialect of Arabic. Three ingredients — tomatoes, peppers, onions — are lovingly cooked down, their flavors building into an ultimate comfort food. Often used as a saucy base for baked eggs, shakshuka is incredibly versatile! This sauce is beautiful used as an accompaniment to grilled fish, baked chicken, eggplant, and even as a pizza sauce topped with olives and herbs.
